Q09.Amongst the Stone Bridges of the Midori River Basin, the Tsujun-kyo(bridge) was built in 1854 to provide water to the fields that were suffering from drought. Japan's biggest arched stone bridge was built by Mr. Yasunosuke Futa, a town representative at that time. The bridge releases water taken from a waterway connected to the upper basin of the Sasahara River 6 kilometres away. The waterway extends around 30 kilometres. In a whole day, the bridge transfers around 15,000 meters square of water and moistens 100 hectares of rice field. In 1960 the Tsujun-kyo(bridge) was designated as a National important cultural property. It is also a very popular site during the Hassaku festival. The bridge's waterway is 126 meters long. The bridge itself is 77.5 meters long, 6.65 meters large, 21.59 meters tall and it's arch has a 27.6 meter radius.
